Preparation my MFA Thesis Exhibition: The Familial Bonds , 2010
Mannequin created from chicken wire, created a quilted burlap dress,
 screen printed African symbolic -Sankofa Bird, created 10 frames with dress patterns overlapping
the  remnants of burlap.

I decided to place the mannequin on a pedestal making
it to appear as though the figure was looking over the viewer.
The sewing
machine surrounded by frames is symbolic to family boding:thread, sewing, utilitarian material




Wall Installation-Part of MFA Thesis Exhibition
Constructed with chicken wire, batting, thread, and twine, remnants of various fabrics:
silk ties and silk screen prints. Represents the strength of the African American Father
(I see this as another form of abstract painting-Quilting)


Disintegration on the Natural World, 2009
This installation is responding to President Obama health care initiative.
The various pills eventually dissolved into the soil, making it unhealthy and unstable,
which references our economy, health care expense and livelihood

This installation is responding to Chris Rock's documentary
Good Hair.Mixed Media installation-this represent what African American women put in their
hair to achieve what they consider is good hair.

10 panels  referencing my family. The white frames reference the sisters and brothers
I did not know I had until 1985. The color frames represent me and my other siblings I did grow up with

The installation represents a secret passageway to strength and growth
and involves human interaction


Composite view- the small basket holds flower seeds and soil wrapped
in burlap. After the participant enters through the door he/she will
take one. They were instructed to plant the small bag in their garden
and nurture it,  making it a symbolic vehicle of their strength and growth.
